Hallo!
Ich habe ein Assignment zu erledigen und wollte fragen ob ich diese Frage im Ansatz richtig angegangen bin:
a) Which of the following sets are natural classes? How can they be characterised in terms of features? Assume the sounds are from English.
[t d n s z l] [m ŋ l ɹ] [p v s ʔ] [k w f tʃ] [b d g dʒ]
Meine Antwort:
Sounds that share features are forming natural classes. A group of sounds can form a natural class only if they can be specified with less features than a single sound of this group.
Group1:[t d n s z l] [t: voiceless, alveolar, plosive d: voiced, alveolar, plosive n: voiced, alveolar, nasal s: voiceless, alveolar, fricative z: voiced, alveolar, fricative l: voiced, lateral, alveolar, approximant]
Group 1 is not forming a natural class.
Ist das korrekt? Und wenn ja, verfahre ich mit den anderen Sets genauso?
Dankeschön!
